Next Friday, March 10th we will be going a field trip to the Santa Barbara Sea Center. We will leave school at 9 am and return around 2 pm. We will not have Choice Lunch available that day. All students must pack a sack lunch.
This week we are celebrating Dr. Seuss birthday with a Holy Cross Reads Week! In honor of his birthday we will be sharing our favorite Dr. Seuss story. Please have your child bring in their favorite book on Monday, February 27th. We will be sharing and reading them throughout the whole week. On Thursday (which is Dr. Seuss’ birthday), all students can wear crazy hair and socks. Also, Friday we will have a “read-in.” All students are allowed to wear PJs and bring pillows and stuffed animals. Finally, we ask all students to try and celebrate by having all screens off for the week!
Monday– Homework folders went home today with all graded work. Please take it out and look through it. Also this week’s homework went home. Math Test
Tuesday-. No Mass today due to Ash Wednesday.
Wednesday– Mass today at 9 am. No shorts please and all families are welcome. Music and P.E. (please wear tennis shoes).
Thursday–12 pm Dismissal. Religion Test. Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, Crazy Hair and Socks day!
Friday–Spelling Test. Computers. Wear PJs and bring pillows and stuffed animals.
First Grade is learning…
Religion: We will finish Chapter 12: We Pray with God’s Word. Test on Thursday. We will then begin our unit on Lent.
Math: We will test on Topic 13 on Monday. We will then start topic 14: Addition facts to 20.

Bi-Weekly Assessments are given every other week and will act as our sight word tests. Our sight words will be on the Bi-Weekly assessment so please make sure to practice those nightly.
